I just started reading Richard L. Bushman's Joseph Smith and the Beginnings of Mormonism, and I'm most of the way through the first chapter. So far, I'm getting a much better picture of Joseph Smith Jr.'s family background, especially in the way of religion and family values.
I've read other books detailing the emergence of the Mormon faith, such as Under the Banner of Heaven, One Nation Under Gods, and The History of Joseph Smith by His Mother, but it's always good to get another perspective. Bushman's is the first faithful Mormon perspective that also results from scholarly research (besides my attempt to read Mormon Enigma last year) that I've seen. I am definitely looking forward to reading this book, and I hope to do a book review once I finish it.
peace.

First, thanks so much for reading!!
Second, I don't care if you:
- are furious and want to rant
- just want to plug your own website/blog
- only write one word or only "LOL" or "WTF?"
- think I'm an idiot
But please stay on topic, and keep it smart. No threats or hate speech will be tolerated.
